Sales and the 'Talent Magnet'

A lot is written about being a ‘Talent Magnet’, either as a company, or as President. It’s all good practice – listen, mentor, reward, provide clear goals and career maps. Good practice for the employer, but what about the employee?

Today’s new market realities are driving the move from technology-oriented solutions towards business-driven solutions that enable enterprises to react to new opportunities with speed and agility while enhancing customer experience and retention. Business Integration has become the power behind enterprise success – enabling the simplification, automation, and optimization of business processes.

If you are looking for cross-platform integration, Web enablement, application-to application or business-to-business integration, Magic Software (www.magicsoftware.com) offers you an SOA integration suite which runs natively almost on every platform and is designed in mind for the SMB market both in price and technical simplicity.

iBolt™ is a graphical, code-free SOA and integration suite that lets you customise and streamline business processes quickly and easily, integrating them across diverse applications, platforms, and databases out-of-the-box.

iBolt™ enables  to retain proven advantages of any legacy system and new software packages, whilst attending to changing needs of a business and the need to remain competitive. Even if applications are mature and simply being maintained, with simple few steps new technologies can be adopted— like RFID, XML, Web Services— All of this without the need to develop new code or replace existing well proven solution.

You can fully integrate your enterprise-wide processes with applications  on Windows-, Linux- and Unix-based systems, System i (AS/400),integrate data, activate logic, use components or even enforce screen-level integration. iBolt™’s cross platform data mapping capabilities enables easily blending of information originating in DB2/400, MS-SQL, Oracle (all natively) XML files, MS-Excel, MS-Word documents etc. into one full view of information, using a graphical, wizard based tool, out-of-the-box without the need to buy any additional adaptors, connectors or add-ons.

iBolt™ Studio enables mapping of the individual business flows through different applications as SAP, JD Edwards, SalesForce and more. A Business flow can be triggered using various technologies, such as COM, EJB, Web Services, Database trigger, Messaging Queue, Income Email and more.

iBolt’s fundamental design concept is based on business function encapsulation and the exposure of business processes as Services. SOA support in iBolt is provided from the Business Process modelling level down to the integration flows and component. This allows iBolt to be the technology of choice for server side Composite Applications. Web Services are leading to the use of more packaged
software, either as an internal service or an external service available over the Internet. These services can be accessed by iBolt and can be connected to create the required integration flows, thus requiring less custom developed software.

Building an enterprise application based on the business processes
modeled in the iBolt Studio allows the developer to utilize every application currently running in the enterprise and business application supplied via Web Services over the Internet. iBolt’s inherent SOA design allows for the composite application itself to be exposed as a Web Service.

Uniq Improves Productivity with iBolt

Overview
Uniq is a pan-European chilled foods group, which produces, sells and distributes products for retail grocery chains and food service outlets throughout Europe. Its quality prepared foods include dressed salads; chilled and frozen ready meals; desserts; sandwiches; sauces, dips & dressings; spreads; and natural, smoked & pickled fish. These can be found either as branded or private label products in Europe’s major retailers and on delicounters, garage forecourts and airlines.

The Challenge
Uniq’s growth through acquisitions has resulted in a number of disparate
systems including JBA, SAP R/3, Tropos, and other in-house applications running on a variety platforms. Uniq had recently invested in a new planning and forecasting system and to send data from six different systems to feed into the forecasting system, which would then process and analyse the data and return it to their main operational systems for planning the production volumes within their factories.

The Solution
The company was looking for an integration solution that would solve their technical issues. After considering a number of offers, Uniq chose iBolt™ as it allowed data from Uniq’s disparate systems to be seamlessly and simply consolidated into a single system that provides total visibility over the entire operation. iBolt™’s ability to process high volumes of data - and its data mapper capabilities, which allow the manipulation and mapping of all data objects exposed within the project - combined together to significantly accelerate the speed of data transformation and management.

The Benefits
iBolt™ has enabled Uniq to achieve greater returns on its IT infrastructure through the reuse of the vast amounts of information held within it. The information that is fed into the forecasting system provides Uniq with complete visibility of its manufacturing and supply chain operation. iBolt™’s high level of scalability, as well as the simplified delivery mechanism, enabled Uniq to select the precise set business functionalities that is required. The entire process was completed in a very short time and a relatively low cost, with the very rapid time-to-value translating into significant savings in both time and money. During the actual implementation, Uniq benefited from the Magic team’s flexibility as well as its dedication to customer satisfaction, which enabled ongoing, on-the-fly changes in the integration vision.

Gareth Robson, Group IT Director of Uniq, commented about Uniq’s experience with iBolt and Magic Software: “The entire project took just four months to complete and a considerable part of the success is attributed to Magic’s customer
orientated approach and its ability to be flexible with changes within the integration specification as the project progressed. The ability of iBolt to manipulate and integrate high volumes of data from our seven UK sites into the new planning and forecasting system was key to its success in helping us improve productivity within our UK operation”

Product Highlights

  • iBolt’s revolutionary paradigm simplifies the design process by separating business logic from integration technology. Providing maximum deployment flexibility, changes can be made to prototype business models without affecting actual business or technical layers of the enterprise and before investments are made in companywide connectivity.
  • iBolt is implemented via intuitive, user-friendly tools – including wizards, drag-and drop actions, and tables. Seamless connections with enterprise applications are enabled through iBOLT and 3rd party connectors, as well as customised connectors created using iBOLT’s open standards-based development framework, and deployed natively on many hardware, operating system, or database technology.
  • iBOLT assures maximum cost-effectiveness through low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO); a unique licensing fee structure; fast implementation; and low maintenance costs, based on easy expandability and customisation. iBolt pricing model is a usage based model rather than a server / CPU based one; this adheres better to the concept of business agility as it does not require a  heavy investment upfront; this allows businesses to reshape their solution as time passes by.
  • iBOLT is a completely flexible, scalable, and future-proof solution, enabling businesses to cost-effectively compete, and to adapt quickly to continuous changes in the IT and business worlds. iBolt provides a Service-Oriented approach to achieve distributed computing that promises a flexible IT environment and leads to higher business agility while reducing total cost of ownership and achieving very fast ROI.
  • Developers can pick and choose the right enabling technology for the job without having to concern themselves with technical dependencies, such as Application Servers or programming languages. Thus for example, you can build new components by dragging and dropping preconfigured components, to work with other pieces of code written in COBOL, J2EE, C, C++ .NET, RGP and so much more! the need for extra development or coding. The same goes for persistence layers, middleware, protocols, etc. You can mix and match to exactly meet your needs, even leverage services that may exist outside of your organization without regard for how that service was created, how it communicates or where it is running.
