Have there been any major recent developments, either technological or operational, that have helped transform your business?
- The most significant development in the last 18 months has been acceleration of Wire One’s managed service capabilities.
- This allows an end user to increase video usage, increase reliability and drive cost out of the business.
What business challenges do your services/products address? And what makes Wire One stand out from similar companies in the field?
Wire One products and services provide solutions for business challenges of:
- Geographically dispersed working teams
- Reducing time to market for consumer products/services
- Employee work life balanc
- Corporate and social responsibility, particularly pollution avoidance
Wire One unique attributes:
- The largest, scalable videoconferencing specialist. We produce more than 60,000 video conferences per year. Largest Tandberg and Polycom partner in the world.
- Flexible service models – hosted, out-tasked or fully managed. Bespoke for each customer, unrivalled levels of service availability and reliability.
- Most experienced team in the industry supporting the largest install base. Over 20 years experience, supporting 25,000 video endpoints for 8,000 customers.
Have you seen a rise in demand for your services over recent years? If so, what do you think is driving that demand?
Demand for traditional video hosting services, like bridging multipoint calls, has declined in favour of customers moving to out-task or managed services. Over all, we have seen a demand increase from both existing customers and new companies investing in videoconferencing for the first time. This is due to two reasons:
- The business challenges mentioned above, particularly environmental responsibility like reducing carbon emissions. Also a work life balance being achieved through effective home working and using video to continue visual interaction with colleagues.
- The business solution Wire One brings – increase usage, increase reliability and reduce costs.
What will be the key opportunities for Wire One Communications over the next 12-18 months? Do you foresee any big changes on the horizon?
Wire One grew it’s European business by 113% in 2006. We foresee strong organic growth continuing in our business over the next 18-24 months as customers consolidate suppliers and move to more reliable, cost effective delivery models. We expect to see further industry member consolidation and the emergence of integrated solutions that allow more visual collaboration from the desktop with traditional room systems.
