Sales and the 'Talent Magnet'

A lot is written about being a ‘Talent Magnet’, either as a company, or as President. It’s all good practice – listen, mentor, reward, provide clear goals and career maps. Good practice for the employer, but what about the employee?

Real-time replication and failover Hyper-V VMs for maximum uptime

Double-Take Software | www.doubletake.com

Consolidating workloads with Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V saves IT organizations serious time and money. However, if a host server goes down in a disaster or outage it can take several workloads, plus profit and productivity, with it. Protecting virtualized workloads running on Hyper-V hosts in any circumstance is critical to protecting your IT investment.

Continuous, asynchronous, byte-level replication over any distance.

Double-Take for Hyper-V monitors changes to all of the files associated with a VM and replicates only the changes to those files. This includes changes to the VM's configuration, its virtual hard disks or even its snapshots. Replicate locally or to a disaster recovery site as far away as you would like, over standard IP networks, for maximum protection against data loss. Improve performance by compressing the protected data before it is sent and control replication using built-in bandwidth limiting capabilities.

Protect The Entire Workload

Double-Take for Hyper-V installs on each production or recovery Hyper-V host in your environment. It replicates changes to a Hyper-V virtual machine's related files in real time without the need to load agents into each guest operating system. This makes managing the protection process easier on IT administrators and allows organizations to protect any kind of OS, application and data running within a VM and easily recover it in the event of an outage.

Better Than Tape, Cheaper Than SANs

Using tape backup or SAN-based replication can add cost and complexity to the process of protecting and recovering virtualized workloads. Double-Take for Hyper-V frees you from proprietary SAN replication technology, allowing you to use any available storage hardware to store virtual machine data in either production or at the DR site. Unlike tape backup or SAN-based replication, which only protect the data, Double-Take for Hyper-V provides the ability to monitor the availability of production hosts or VMs then automatically failover VMs to any other Hyper-V host in your environment. This allows you to recover your workloads in minutes rather than hours or days.

Auto Discovery and Provisioning

Double-Take for Hyper-V integrates seamlessly with Hyper-V management interfaces to allows you to see a listing of all virtual machines in the environment and easily select which workloads to protect. Instead of manually selecting all of the necessary files required to protect and recover a VM, Double-Take for Hyper-V automatically discovers where the required files exist and ensures they're replicated to the target Hyper-V host. At failover, a new VM is provisioned automatically on the target Hyper-V host using the replicated copy of the VM with little or no manual intervention.

Weekend-Free Testing

An organization's disaster recovery plan is only as reliable as the last time it was tested. Traditionally, however, testing of DR plans has been something that's complex and requires significant downtime. Double-Take for Hyper-V allows you to bring up a replicated VM in testing mode to make sure it works

without affecting the production environment and then shut it back down and resume protection of the production workload. No waiting for weekends or evenings to test.

Simplified Management

The Double-Take for Hyper-V management console allows you to view, monitor, and manage all protection jobs from "one pane of glass".

Flexible Protection - Unlike SAN-based protection of VM data, softwarebased replication using Double-Take for Hyper-V means you have the flexibility to:

- Select VMs for protection on a VM-by-VM basis, allowing you to protect and recover a single virtual machine or all virtual machines on a specified Hyper-V host

-Replicate to and Failover VMs to different Hyper-V hosts in different locations. One set of VMs can be replicated to and failover to a Hyper-V host in one city while another set of VMs can be replicated to and failover to a Hyper-V host in an entirely different city.

- Configure replication options such as compression and throttling, monitor, manage and failover all VMs independently of one another.

Choose the proven leader: Double-Take Software

Double-Take® Software's family of products gives you the ability to easily move, backup and protect critical data and applications regardless of platform, environment or geographic location. Whether you need a better way to move workloads for migration, continuously backup workloads and recover them on-demand to any physical or virtual machine, ensure the availability of critical workloads or more flexibly manage desktop and server workloads, we have a simple solution that's right for you.

  • Migration: move critical data and applications between any combination of physical and virtual hardware (P2P, P2V, V2P or V2V) within datacenters for hardware refreshes or across locations for datacenter migrations and consolidations.
  • Backup: Continuously backup data and applications and recover them on-demand to a new physical or virtual machine. Recovery can be done at the item level to any point in time.
  • Availability: Ensure the availability of critical IT data and applications for disaster recovery and business continuity using real-time replication and failover that can protect individual applications, entire servers or virtualized workloads running on VMware ESX or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Flexibility: Run any Flex virtual desktop from any workstation hardware. The user's image and workspace environment follows regardless of where they log in
